The Edmonton Federation Hockey League is excited to announce the standards of play for game scheduling for the 2024-2025 season.
The EFHL Operations Committee and EFHL Board of Directors are proud the our U11 Pilot's over the past several years have led the province and Hockey Alberta to launch a province wide U11 AA program. Although U11 AA will not be facilitated under the EFHL banner for the 2024-2025 season, our member associations believe the is a positive move forward for U11 hockey.
We are proud to continue to lead development across the province with changes to all U11, U13 and U15 Tier 1 categories of play. U11 Tier 1 will continue to play a 24 game scheduled over the course of the season. U13 Tier 1 and U15 Tier 1 Body-Checking will increase their schedule to 24 games for the season and their ice time will increase to 1.75 hours and play 15-20-Flood-20 for their tiering, regular season and playoffs. These Tier 1 divisions of play will have is tiering games and 18 regular season games.
Regular programming for U9 and U11 will continue to play 18 games over the course of the EFHL season with six tiering games and twelve regular season games built into two sessions throughout the year.
All other U13, U15 and U18 will continue to be offered a twenty game season consisting of six tiering games followed by a fourteen game regular season.
All U18 and U15 games for both male and female tiers are moving to a three-person official system for the 2024-2025 season.
Additional games will be provided through participation in QEMHW and EFHL playoffs.
The EFHL Operations Committee and Board of Directors have approved regional conference play for U9 Tiers 3-6, U11 tiers 3-6 and U13 tiers 5-6 to reduce travel within the region, specific arenas for EFHL games to ensure that all facilities meet a minimum league standard, and the introduction of user fees for blackout dates and league game reschedules where league game swaps do not occur. These changes move towards reducing administration and providing a better player and parent environment.
